Ministack STX: Storage and Hub in one!

Ministack STX: Storage and Hub in one!

The Ministack has always been the go to external accessory for owners of a Mac Mini. This is because it is shaped the same and as the name suggests, it can be stacked on or under a Mac Mini.

It is a classic shape, look good on any desk, and if you are in the market for an external disk or a Thunderbolt hub, give the Ministack a second look.

We configured a Ministack for a customer this week, and it reminded us on how awesome this product is and how easy it is to build a custom external drive.

There is room for two drives. An NVMe M.2 SSD and a SATA 2.5 inch or 3.5 inch drive. You can use a mechanical SATA drive and put in an enterprise hard drive with 20TB of storage. Match that with 8tb of NVME super fast M.2 SSD. We have used the latest 2tb Crucial P5 Plus SSD which has read speeds of 6600MB/s.

Are you a musician?

You can have a large SATA storage of all your music or all your projects or a time machine back up drive. Then add a NVMe SSD to create loop and sample libraries on the NVMe SSD to use with near zero latency.

Are you a photographer?

Store your photos library on a massive SATA drive but use the NVMe storage to process/edit/filter your latest photos in almost real time.

Are you a Macbook owner with low onboard storage?

You can create a time machine backup drive and add storage via an NVMe SSD that is as fast as your current onboard Macbook SSD. Pair the Macbook with a Ministack SSD on your desk and you get extra Thunderbolt ports and more storage than you know what to do with.

Create the hub you need

By adding a hub like the Traveldock you get a unique storage and hub unit. The Traveldock gives you USB-A, HDMI and SD Card ports, the ministack gives you storage and Thunderbolt ports.

Not only does the miniStack STX give you storage options, but your expansion options are almost unlimited thanks to four Thunderbolt 4 / USB-C ports on the back.

It really is an underrated new product from OWC. Configure your Ministack here on our website or call our team to get options or advice.
